Ultrasound Elastography in Children

Ultrasound elastography is a novel ultrasound technique, being extensively researched in children the last decade. It measures tissue elasticity with observation of response after an external stimulus. From research to clinical practice, has evolved significantly liver fibrosis evaluation children; however, several other applications technique are available both practice and environments. Practically, any organ can be assessed, including brain early ages, along muscle connective evaluation, spleen, kidney, skin, lymphatic tissue, etc. The method, age, body mass index technical points should considered when performing elastography. This review highlights its vast potential as diagnostic tool pediatric population, where dominant imaging tool; indications exam protocol for use fields pediatrics have yet elucidated.
